A DECADE OF FRINGE TUNES!

Actually just 10 weeks, but 10 is rad.

Can I just say something? I don’t like Las Vegas.

I try really hard not to not like things, but this place is just not the jam. We have a conference here, which will be great, but right off the plane it’s hard to be here. I put my noise canceling headphones on and I keep my eyes on my feet as I navigate through what is clearly architected to be unnavigable.

I hide in my room and I find refuge in music and in the pictures my wife sends me of our life back home. I’m never more thankful for my life than when I’m separated from it. So on my list of things to do better is enjoy my life as much when I’m in it, as when I’m not in it.

Maybe that makes sense to you. I guess they say you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. So why don’t we all put some effort into making that not the case?

Let’s do better at enjoying our lives right where they are. Pretty sure Ferris Bueller said that.

I just spelled “Bueller” on my first try. Happy Friday y’all.

The Homies:

1. Genevieve Newton
Scientific Research Director
Song: Depeche Mode – Stripped
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands.

2. Jake Means
Marketing Coordination and Robot Fighting.
Song: Lisa – Money
My wife is a first generation Korean American and while we lived in South Korea for a year, she grew enamored by her culture. She particularly loves K-Pop. I used to roll my eyes at the genre, but the likes of BTS and BLACKPINK have made it more enjoyable. One of the girls, Lisa has this banger which is about lots of money things which is all well and fun. But the heart of the song is to treat yourself right and I like that message. We all need to treat ourselves better than we probably do. Maybe that means being hard on yourself so you actually achieve that life long goal…. or having that cake pop at Starbucks (me).

3. Joe LaVacca
Lead Educator
Song: Meatloaf – Paradise by the Dashboard Light
My dad turned 60 this week!  I’ll always remember him rocking out and singing this song to my mom as a kid!

4. Alyson Evans
CoCEO & Founder

Song: Tragically Hip – Ahead by a Century
Forget everything everyone has told you about famous Canadian singers/bands. This is the one to listen to. ’The Hip’ is being Canadian.

5. Abby Kramer
Medical Business Development and a whole lot more.
Song: Megan Trainor – Me Too
For all your sassy, conquer the world vibes…turn this one up!

6. Michael Sierra
Video and Creative

Song: Hans Zimmer – Herald of the Change
Dune is all I can think about since watching it last week. It’s far from a perfect film, but there are moments of pure beauty and poetry. Hans Zimmer continues to redefine the relationship that music has with film.

7. Heather Manning
Creative and Brand Management

Song: Goody Grace – Used to Be
Good song, enough said – just listen.

8. Heather Cantor
A dear homie
Song: Dave Matthews Band – Crash
In honor of my recent Electric Bike crash (caught on video via YouTube) no worries, I’m ok thanks to my helmet and fringe for the soreness after!!

9. Thomas Buxton
Marketing Activations Manager
Song: Ethan Sak – Make My Heart Go
The melody is unlike most of the music I listen to and the song feels like it completely changes between the verses and the chorus. Which, combined, feels very Fringe in the best possible way.

10. Jill Magee
Fringe Representative – Wisconsin and Minnesota
Song: Tennile Townes – Girl Who Didn’t Care
Just fckn good : )

11. Tamara Nieto
Fringe Accounting and Awesomeness

Song: Louis Armstrong – What a Wonderful World

12. Anthony Caligaris
Co-CEO & Co-Founder
Song: Dog Party – Love Interruption
One of the coolest bands on earth, taking a little bit of a different direction from their unapologetic punk rock. I’ve been a fan for years, I challenge you to not be after checking these guys out!

Anthony is convinced that there’s a better way. A better way to work, a better way to manage, and a better way to live. After 10 years pretending to be a sales dude, Anthony has spent the last 5 in management roles refining his perspective on how an organization should function. Excited to combine his background in economics with his desire for commerce to do good, Anthony is looking forward to Fringe creating a new business model focused on doing the right thing.
